Deputy Manager

To support the registered manager with the running of the home with the principals and philosophies of Sahara Care policies and procedures. Supervise and support the care team of support workers and senior support workers. Contribute and complete support plans, risk assessments, menus, staff meetings, staff rotas and supervision audits and reviews. Provide personal care if appropriate. Maintain safe and accurate medication administration and audits. Maintain safe environment for service users and staff. If applicable to drive the Company Vehicle. To be familiar with and comply with the standards of conduct and practices set by the General Social Care Council. Comply with CQC Safe Standards for Quality and Safety. Attend training and conduct staff meetings
Working Hours: 40Hrs ( Some shifts, Alternate Weekends & Bank Holidays will be required)
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience.
Essential Qualifications: NVQ Level 3
Essential Experience: Minimum 2 year Experience of Deputy, Acting Deputy or Team Leader/Senior Support Worker. Working with adults with learning disability/challenging needs.
Main duties & responsibilities:
Organise and maintain the day-to-day running of the home and development of staff.
Provide formal supervision to named staff on a 6 weekly basis to an agreed format.
Ensure training and development of staff happens as part of an annual appraisal.
Delegate work appropriately and ensure that all staffs are fully informed, equipped, supported and effective in carrying out their duties.
Monitor and review staff performance and provide feedback taking action to correct shortfalls in performance when necessary.
Act as a role model for professional practice in direct work with service users, colleagues, families, carers and external bodies
Participate in the recruitment and selection of staff including short listing, interviewing, referencing and written confirmation of job offer.
Represent the home at management and company meetings.
To actively promote the homes objectives and review regularly with the management team with the view to continuously improve and develop the service.
Assess the needs of potential service users, plan admissions and discharges.
Ensure Person Centered Approaches are understood and applied by all staff working in partnership with service users.
Ensure that the service meets the agreed requirements of individual service user needs.
Deal effectively with referrals, multi disciplinary reviews.
Manage the homes budget/ petty cash and maintain effective and efficient administrative information and record keeping systems in accordance with the company Policy and Procedures.
Hold responsibility for ensuring and implementing The Health and Safety at Work Act code of practice.
Hold responsibility for implementing and monitoring regular quality assurance audits of the home.
Provide on call out of hours support to the home.
Assist and attend annual planned holidays for service users
