Welcome to the second issue of our new Sahara Care e-newsletter, bringing you news from across the company.


In this edition we will look at the appointment of Vanda Brand our new manager at Sahara Parkside, Adrian’s visit to see his brother, service users voting and a wonderful story about Renee Holland-Pearce finally obtaining a bank account.

We will also hear about the introduction of life insurance benefits for Sahara Care staff, anniversary celebrations for three of our homes and about the latest job opportunities at Sahara Care.


Sahara Care welcomes experienced manager


We have welcomed a new highly-experienced manager to one of our flagship homes.

Vanda Brand has been appointed to the position of Manager at Sahara Parkside, our modern home containing ten three-bedroom apartments in Barking, which provides care to people with a wide range of learning difficulties and complex needs.

Sahara Care attracts huge crowds at Autism Show


Hundreds of people have benefitted from useful advice on specialist services from leading care provider Sahara Care at this year’s Autism Show.

The two day event held at London’s Excel centre welcomed more than 10,000 parents, carers and people with autism through its doors, many of whom came to learn more about the condition and discover hundreds of products and services.

Renee celebrates bank account success


Renee Holland-Pearce, a Sahara Gardens resident, is celebrating having finally opened her own bank account.

Due to legal restrictions on banking, it has been difficult for Renee to open an account, but this hasn’t stopped her battling with her local branch for the last three years.

Adrian makes an important journey to see his brother


Adrian, a service user at Sahara House, is celebrating having organised a trip to see his brother.

Adrian often misses his brother Brian, who lives in Leicester, and due to the distance they only get to see each other four or five times a year.

Sahara Garden’s residents turn out to vote


Last month saw hundreds of people turnout to cast their ballot for the next government at the general election.

Amongst the crowds was a group of residents from Sahara Gardens, who turned up with their polling cards held proudly in their hands to cast their vote on 8 May.

Sahara Care celebrates multiple anniversaries


During June we have been celebrating the anniversary of three of our homes. Sahara Parkside, Sahara House and Sahara Lodge are now marking their anniversaries with special celebrations that are looking back at their history of delivering excellent care.

Sahara Parkside, our newest home, was opened on 10 June 2009 by local councillor Liam Smith, who described it as “the benchmark for all other care homes.”
