Welcome to the third issue of our new Sahara Care e-newsletter, bringing you news from across the company.


In this edition we will look at Sahara Lodge’s 15th anniversary celebrations, two garden projects that Sahara have become involved in and service users expressing themselves through art.

We will also hear about the wonderful recognition our staff members received from a local authority practice manager and the appointment of a new manager at Sahara House.


Care home and school join forces for green-fingered project


Our staff and residents at Sahara Care have forged a partnership with a local school to create a garden paradise at one of its care homes in Ilford.

Over the last six months pupils from Apex Primary School, a specialist Muslim education institution, have been visiting Sahara House in Cranbrook Road Ilford to plant and maintain a communal garden with people from the care home.

The sun shines on care home celebrations


Managers, staff and residents from Sahara Lodge have commemorated its 15th anniversary with a garden party in the sun.

A large crowd of friends, family and members of the local community gathered in the Sahara Lodge’s garden in Earlham Grove, Forest Gate to celebrate the home’s anniversary.

Staff recognised for delivering excellent service


The team at Sahara Lodge have received a glowing report about their work with a service user, Natchu Kofie, from a Practice Manager for Newham Council’s Adult Social Care Team.

In their report the Practice Manager expressed “how impressed” they were with the team’s care file and support plan for Natchu and went on to say that: “his file was very well organised and made information required to be easily assessed.”

Service users express themselves through art


A group of service users from Sahara Lodge and Gardens have been using art as a way of expressing their emotions and feelings.

The Expressions Through Art Day was organised by staff at Sahara Lodge and Gardens to help service users express their feelings and emotions in a creative way by taking part in drama activities, making pottery and producing beautiful pieces of arts and crafts. Guests also enjoyed refreshments and a barbeque.

Sahara Lodge residents dig deep to help community garden scheme


Residents from Sahara Lodge have put on their wellies and dug in to help the Forest Gate Community Garden Project.

This project is run by a local volunteer group made up of people from all walks of life, who all want to give something back to their community, by establishing a green paradise in East London.

Sahara House welcomes new manager


Paul Bryant has been appointed to manage Sahara House, our 19 bedroomed care home facility in Ilford, Essex, which cares for people with a wide-range of physical and learning disabilities.

Paul joins Sahara Care having completed a number of years work in the care community, including having worked as a regional manager for a care agency and supported living manager for another firm in Essex.

Sahara Care hands over generous donation to local charity


We have made a £10,000 donation to a local charity as part of our ongoing commitment to help good causes.

The funding, presented on behalf of our charity, Sahara Care Charitable Trust, will go to Community Links – an innovative east London charity that runs a wide range of community projects for over 16,000 people every year.
