Service users get sporty for summer

Last month we brought you news of some of our services users visiting the Paralympics competition in London and this month some of our residents have followed in their footsteps to become athletes in their own rights.

Sahara Lodge Day Centre has hosted a sports day for its residents, which saw staff and service users join in with a number of traditional activities, including a hula hoop competition.

Those who took part were awarded with a special certificate, which recognised their successes and hard work.

The Day Centre takes great pride in promoting healthy living amongst Sahara Care’s residents and this event was the ideal way of keeping fit, whilst having fun.

Claire Dixon, Sahara Care’s Day Centre Coordinator, said: “All of the resident and the staff really enjoyed our summer sports day. They really got into the spirit of things and it would be fair to say that everyone had fun.”

Terence Brown, Chairman of Sahara Care, added: “At Sahara Care we always strive to help our residents stay fit and healthy. Events such as this make a massive difference to keeping their quality of life high and from what I have heard it was a nice day spent outside in the summer sun.”
