We are delighted to announce that Syed Muhammad has been selected as the latest Sahara Care employee of the month.
Syed first came to our attention at Sahara Care two years ago when he completed two weeks work experience, aged just 16. Having completed his time with our group he asked us whether we could offer him a contract, but due to his age we were not able to.
However, aged 18 he returned and took up a position with us whilst he was completing his NVQ Level 3, which he has now received.
He works full-time at Sahara Lodge providing support and care to service users. He is described by his fellow colleagues as “a wonderful support worker” that brings “a young person’s dimension to the service”
During his time with Sahara he has built up a wonderful connection with residents, and in particular DH*, who he has help to enrol in college, integrate into the local community and try new activities in the day centre.
Janette Neal, Care Manager at Sahara Lodge, said: “It is so difficult to interest young people in joining the care sector, but Syed is absolutely dedicated and determined to eventually progress into management. He has all the attributes to becoming an excellent care professional and I hope he remains with Sahara Care and achieves his goals – I also really wish there were more like him.“
Sharon Kaur, Managing Director at Sahara Care, said: “Everyone is very proud of Syed for what he has achieved in such a short space of time. The team at Sahara Lodge are full of admiration for the work he has done with DH*, which is why we are all very excited to name him employee of the month.”
